Upcoming Live Music in SLC

Alright greater SLC'ers

Tonight we have local band soon to make a name for themselves, The Devil Whale playing at the Urban Lounge.

Tomorrow night is the fifth week of the sensational Twilight Concert Series. So far Beirut is my favorite act of the season but tomorrow's show with Jamie Lidell, ex-glitch proder turned bizarre soul troubador, is showing off his latest batch of idiosyncratic gems. Afterwards Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, a rare backing band that is more famous than the lead act, take the stage. It's a free show which means go buy yourself some nouveau tacos to take it in with.

Next Monday is the Punch Brothers, the current project of mandolin virtuso Chris Thile at the State Room. For those interested in taking american folkloric string traditions to the next level.

Finally Tuesday, the 10th Ferraby Lionheart comes to town. Everyone has an underappreciated singer-songwriter that they champion, and Ferraby Lionheart is mine. He has a new album out and will be doing a free in-store at the Grey Whale music store in the foothills before his show at The State Room later that evening.

Finally I would be remiss if I didn't mention that a new venue is opening up in the fall called The Complex and it already stands to have some great shows lined up in October including Jonsi, Of Montreal with Janelle Monae, and ...HOT CHIP WITH LCD SOUNDSYTEM!!!!

Let me remind everyone that this last show might possibly be the greatest live show ever and should take priority over children's birthday parties.
